Week 18!

Posted by Unknown at 08:45 0 comments
Week 18... My goodness. In two weeks I'll already be halfway through my pregnancy! Craziness I tell you. I am really quite enjoying my pregnancy, and am getting more and more excited as my belly grows. AND, I have begun to feel very light fish like movements which is so exciting. I don't feel them often just when I'm very still and quiet.

From head to little bum Bean measures about 6 inches and weighs about 7 ounces. Bean is busy flexing their little muscles, and stretching it's arms and legs which will get stronger and stronger as the days go by. Movements that I will feel more and more.
Bean's blood vessels are still visible through it's skin and their ears are in their final position but stick out a bit from it's little head.

A protective covering called myelin is beginning to form around the baby's nerves, a process that will continue for at least a year after the baby is born. If my baby is a girl then her fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If my baby is a boy his little bits are very noticeable now, his testicles are still up inside his body and wont descend until shortly before or shortly after birth.  Some baby boys need medical help to lower them.

But I will find out if my baby is a boy or a girl next Saturday the 6th of July and I am ecstatic! Once I know what my baby is I don't really mind waiting anymore lol.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend, and if you are Canadian, HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Week 17!

Posted by Unknown at 11:41 0 comments
These weeks are going by really quickly my goodness! Already 17 weeks. I can't believe that in only 3 weeks I will be at the halfway point in my pregnancy. Wow... My little baby is growing.. And so is my belly! LOL finally have a nice little bump, not just bloating anymore.

So how big is my baby now exactly? Well little Bean is about 5 inches long and weighs between 4 and 5 ounces and is gaining rapidly. Little Bean is going through a major growth spurt!

Little Bean is starting to develop fat which will play an important role in metabolism and the production of body heat. Over the next few weeks Bean will start packing on fat, by the time Bean is born it's little body will be 60-70% fat!

I should start to feel Bean moving more and more in the next few weeks which is so exciting I can't wait. And hopefully if my Doctors want to get it together I can get my ultrasound to see if Bean is a little Prince or Princess!

When I find out the sex I will let you all know! Have a beautiful weekend, make sure you try and see that Super Moon tonight! I want to see it! Enjoy your loved ones and stay cool!

Week 16!

Posted by Unknown at 16:39 0 comments
Well here we are! Week 16, only 24 weeks to go ha ha! I haven't felt much movement yet, I thought I did but I am not completely positive. I know it's only a few weeks away and I'll be feeling my little baby move all the time.

In the next few weeks little Bean is going to go through a major growth spurt! Bean will double his weight and add many inches to their little body. Right now Bean is a whopping 4.5 inches in length, and weighs about 3-4 ounces. About the length of an avocado. Beans little legs are starting to lengthen, and Beans body is catching up with their Einstein size head. Beans head is much more erect and their little neck is getting much stronger. Just like the rest of it's body.

The patterning of Beans scalp is forming, though it's locks wont be recognizable yet. Beans nails are forming now, and it's ears are close to their final position. Soon Bean will be able to hear the sound of my heartbeat and my voice! I make sure to sing and play nice music and talk all the time! I just can't wait to find out if Bean is a boy or a girl, than I can refer to them by their name! I can find out what Bean is either this week or within
the next few weeks!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, spent with family and friends. And lets not forget the Fathers! Have a fabulous week and I will see you next time for Week 17!

Week 15!

Posted by Unknown at 08:56 0 comments
Gosh.. Is it week 15 already? They weren't kidding when they said the time flies by! My little bean has grow a lot since I first found out I was pregnant. It has developed so quickly, and the things it will be able to do this week compared to week 11 are crazy!

If I could hold my baby in one hand and a baseball in the other this week, you'd see that my baby is noticeably larger but much lighter than the baseball. From the crown of it's head to the bottom of it's little bum, Bean's about 9 to 11 cm (3.6 to 4.5 in) long, and weighs close to 50 g (1.75 oz).

Little Bean can suck it's thumb now, I might be able to see that on an ultrasound... If I can get another one soon!

My baby is covered with fine hair called lanugo, which will disappear before (or soon after) it's born. The hair on it's head is beginning to grow and Beans eyebrows are filling in.

Bean's eyes are continuing to move toward the front of it's face and his outer ears are still developing.

At this stage of Bean's development, my baby's blood vessels are visible beneath it's thin, transparent skin and it's bones are quickly hardening. In fact, if an X-ray was taken of it's body now, you would be able to see his bones... Not that I'd want an X-ray lol... An ultrasound is just fine lol.

If I do have an ultrasound, this week or next I might be able to find out if I am carrying my prince or my little princess! That is if little Bean wants to cooperate!

I can't wait until I can finally feel my little Bean wriggling and kicking! I know it wont be as nice when it's foot is in my ribcage or it's head is on my spine LOL. I just want some reassurance it's still in there and everything is okay lol.

And here's little me! LOL I hope my baby will have curly hair like me <3

Have an awesome Sunday everyone! I know I will! Going to spend the evening with my Mum, Kyle, my Stepdad and my sister :) Enjoy your family today!

Wholesome Homemade Baby Food

Posted by Unknown at 09:22 0 comments
When my little one is ready to start eating solid foods, I am determined to make the baby food myself. That way I know just exactly what I am feeding my baby.  I know I have a long way to go but I thought other mums might find this helpful.

The food in jars has a lot of fillers, sodium and sugars. And have you ever tried jarred baby food? It's absolutely disgusting! Not only that, it is much cheaper to make it yourself! One sweet potato costs roughly $1.00 but makes enough baby food for at least 7 meals!

Why wouldn't you want to make your own baby food? It takes about an hour a week to prepare and can be stored in the freezer! You can even make your own rice cereal with organic brown rice.

Here are two links to my favourite Baby Food Recipes!

Week 14!

Posted by Unknown at 09:15 0 comments
Wow, time flies! It's already the second trimester!
I am already 14 weeks pregnant, starting to show and so excited! I can't wait for my next ultrasound. But what I am most looking forward to is finally feeling my little bean move inside me. I need that reassurance that its still in there lol.

Next week is mt second Doctor's appointment and I will also be getting my referral for my obstetrician. Hopefully when I see him I can hear the baby's heartbeat as well!

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck it's thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, it's little facial muscles are getting a workout as it's tiny features form one expression after another.

My baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, my baby measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. Little Bean's body's growing faster than it's head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, baby's arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of its little body. (It's legs still have some lengthening to do.) My baby is starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over its body. My baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and its spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells.

And here is some baby cuteness to brighten your Monday!
