32 Weeks! 8 Weeks to GO!

Posted by Unknown at 12:55 0 comments
Two months left... TWO MONTHS LEFT! Oh my goodness. Were is the time going. I will have a baby in TWO MONTHS! Let the anxiety begin. Well, not anxiety really... More like excitement. I cannot wait to hold my baby boy. Just had an appointment today with my OB and little man is doing great. His heartbeat is 150bmp and he is head down, locked and loaded. He will drop in a few more weeks and be ready to go!

So anyway, little man is roughly 4lbs and gaining half a pound a week until he is born which will make up a third of his body weight. He is started to take up a lot of room in my uterus so his movements are a little more restricted as he is also roughly 17.5 inches long.
He now has fingernails, toenails, and real hair! His beautiful baby skin is becoming soft and smooth as he prepares for the world outside the womb.
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and hope the work week goes well! See you all next week x

I'm Back! Week 31!

Posted by Unknown at 07:14 0 comments
I know, I know.... I have been totally M.I.A the last couple weeks.. I'm sorry! I was so preoccupied I didn't even think about my blog. But I am back and ready to finish the last 8 1/2 weeks of my pregnancy... Yep... Eight and a half weeks left... That is it. That is all. Unless of course Mr. Damian wants to arrive a little before schedule.

So.. Were exactly is little man at now in terms of growth.. Well Damian is now approximately 16 inches long and weighs in at a whopping 4lbs already! My little chunky monkey will be gaining roughly half a pound a week for the next two months and will grow roughly 4-6 more inches, give or take. If he's anything like me he will be a long baby. He is truly heading into a growth spurt, which means my appetite will increase... And so will the amount of time I spend sleeping! He can turn his head side to side and his little arms and legs are plumping up with adorable baby fat. My little guy does move quite a bit, however I have never been woken by his movements at night and he seems to be very quiet at night. Which is nice. I just hope he is like this after he is born!

Well that is were my baby boy is at now, and he continues to grow stronger as the end nears. I am so excited to hold him and finally have him home. And truth be told I am not afraid of labour and delivery at all! I am sure I will want some pain relief but I want to see what I am capable of, mentally and physically.
Hope you all have a wonderful week! I am extremely excited that I only have about 4.5 weeks of work left! Woohoo! Then the nesting can begin and I can get my home ready for it's newest member.

28 Weeks! Hello Third Trimester!

Posted by Unknown at 12:22 0 comments
This is it. We are now in the home stretch. Only 12 or so more weeks until my gorgeous little baby boy is here! I am looking forward to my Baby Shower. I have started my registry and it is kind of overwhelming thinking of all the things the baby will need!
We got our first big gift from my grandparents! A gorgeous and unique Stroller that comes with a bassinet so it can be used as a pram. I got it in the grey colour and I can't wait for it to arrive! Kyle doesn't love it but I really do. It is really different and will be so great for us.

Anyhoo, little man is really starting to pack on the baby fat. He now weighs roughly 2 1/3lbs and gaining fast. He measures roughly 14.8 inches long from head to feet. His eyes can blink now and are lined with lush eyelashes. With his eyesight developing he may be able to see light that filters through my womb. He is developing neurons in his little brain, getting ready to learn new things.
Another big development is his bone marrow which is now a major construction site for red blood cells and his adrenal glands are producing androgen and estrogen, which will stimulate my body to begin milk ... Can you say Mooo! LOL

So that's were we are this week! The next few weeks are going to fly by! See you next Sunday for Week 29!

Week 27! 13 Weeks To Go!

Posted by Unknown at 18:58 0 comments
Well here we are! Week 27, and only 13 weeks to go! This week has been quite bitter sweet. My grandparents from England arrived on Tuesday which is always exciting and its lovely to spend time with them. It's bitter because my Nana has been in the hospital since Friday morning and its been very hard on everyone. I am trying SO hard to keep myself emotionally stable to protect my son. But it is hard..
Anyway, my little man was spoiled rotten by my family in England. Absolutely gorgeous outfits and knitted/crocheted sweaters, teddies and fabulous purple Converse that match mine exactly! Momma and baby are going to have matching Chucks! It is absolutely amazing and such a happy coincidence.

This week the second trimester comes to a close and by the end of the week I will be going into the third and final trimester! There are only 88 days until my due date! And 90 days until my induction date. Not long now and I cannot wait! I love my baby boy so much already I cannot even imagine loving him more than I already do and I know that the day he is born I will be so overcome with love and emotion I will not stop crying, will not stop holding and snuggling my little miracle baby.
This week little man is about 14 and a half inches long and gaining lots of weight from here on out. He is now sleeping and waking at regular intervals. He is busy opening and closing his little eyes, sucking on his thumbs and fingers. His brain is continuing development and sparking with activity!
While his lungs are still immature, they are able to function with medical help if he were to be born now. I may or may not begin to feel him have hiccups now. Each episode lasts only a few moments and they don't bother Damian one bit.

Next week I will be back for Week 28! The beginning of the Third Trimester! Whew this is going by very quickly, and I have been extremely lucky with my pregnancy. I am actually loving pregnancy. I love what my body is doing and for once in my life feel amazing about what I am doing, and love my body more than I ever have.. Even with my extra tiger stripes and pounds. Hope you've had a lovely weekend, spent with those you love the most. Have a great week!

27 Weeks, and starting to get pretty big!!

Week 26! 14 Weeks to Go!

Posted by Unknown at 11:28 0 comments
Okay, no need to freak out.... But in roughly three and a half months I will be holding my beautiful son... Freaking OUT! I am so excited, and anxious. Today I am kind of going crazy. It is becoming all so real. Time is racing by, and I love it. But at the same time... I want to keep my little man inside, safe and warm.. And where no one else can hold him... Selfish I know.. But at least I am honest! I have my next appointment at my OB's on Monday, kind of looking forward to that! Get to hear my baby boy's heartbeat.

SO, where is the little Devil in terms of growth? Well...
The network of nerves in his ears are much better developed now and more sensitive. He can now hear my voice clearly and the voices of those I have close conversations with. His little lungs are practicing breathing my inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid. HE is practicing for that first big breath of air. He is continuing to put on baby fat. The weight is coming on slowly right now, but in a few weeks he will really start packing on the weight. He measures roughly two pounds and about 14 inches long.
And since he is definitely a boy, his testicles are beginning their journey to his scrotum. That journey may take days, they might not even be down at birth. But will be there very soon after.
Another big development... He can SEE!! He can't see very much except for shadows but his little eyeballs are working.
That is all for this week... Next week starts the Third Trimester! We are coming into the home stretch! Hope you all have a great weekend, I know I will! See you next week!!

Week 25!

Posted by Unknown at 10:50 0 comments
Told you I would be back again soon! Week 25... Only 15 short weeks left. I found out I was pregnant roughly 15 weeks ago, and that time has flown by.. I can only imagine how quickly these last few weeks are going to go by. I can't wait to hold my son in my arms, smell his skin, snuggle him. I'm also looking forward to leaving work!! Haha!

So were is my little man at this week? Well he now measures roughly 14 inches long and weighs about 2 pounds. He is really starting to pack on the baby fat and his wrinkly skin is quickly smoothing out. He is starting to look more and more like a newborn! His hair is also starting to really come in and if I could see him now I'd be able to discern the colour and texture of his hair. Hoping for curls!!

If little man for whatever reason was born today, he would very likely survive with the help of the NICU. His lungs are developed enough to begin breathing. Damian should also be making the switch to head down instead of breach in the coming weeks! In just two short weeks I will be in the home stretch! The THIRD TRIMESTER! Phew! And my belly is only getting bigger!

Well I will see you all again next week, finally have the whole due date sorted! Hope you've had a great weekend! Mine was a bit sad, had to say goodbye to my two little chinchillas Teddy and Mushi as I needed to make room for all of my son's things!

Week 24!

Posted by Unknown at 12:57 0 comments
24 weeks down, 16 more to go! Where is the time going? Damian's due date has changed, only by two days and is now November 29th instead of December 1st.. But really? I highly doubt he will be on time. Which actually means I am now nearly 25 weeks along haha! Gotta get this together!

So little man now measures about a foot long and weighs almost two whole pounds! He's gonna be a big boy lol. He is now starting to fill out, trading in his wrinkly skin for pudgy baby skin. His brain is also developing rapidly now along with his taste buds. His tiny lungs are developing branches now as well as cells that produce surfectant. A substance that helps the air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world! His skin is still fairly translucent, but that is rapidly changing.

Apparently my uterus is now the size of a soccer ball haha! That is kind of crazy, and it is only getting bigger each day. I also have the date for my Baby Shower which is October 27th! I am so excited to have my friends and family all together to celebrate the miraculous little baby boy that is growing inside! I think it will be a great party, lots of fun!

Well it seems like I will be making another blog post fairly shortly, as I am only a few days away from the 25 week mark! Hope you are all having a wonderful week, see you next time!

Week 23!

Posted by Unknown at 07:53 0 comments
Another week down, 17 weeks to go! I don't know where the time is going but I sure don't mind! My little boy is going through a major growth spurt this week. I have been feeling absolutely exhausted, my belly is tight and VERY itchy, and no matter how much food I eat it is never enough! I am always hungry. His movements are becoming stronger and stronger, though he's fairly quiet during the day.

Damian can now feel it when I move and dance and even moves along with me. He is now roughly 12 inches long from the top of his head, to the bottom of his little feet and he definitely weighs more than a pound now.
Blood vessels in his lungs are developing preparing him for his first breath and of course his first cry! His hearing is becoming much more developed, loud noises that he will here inside the womb now will not be as frightening for him when he is born.

I'll tell you work is becoming a bit difficult though, standing all day long is quite hard on my feet and hips. May have to ask for a stool or something so I may have a seat when necessary. Hopefully they don't put up to much of a fuss.

Anyway, I know this post was a little late, I usually do them on a Sunday but I have been so exhausted I just couldn't.
Hope you have had a wonderful weekend and a fab 4 day week! See you in a few days for Week 24!!
23 weeks and 2 day belly!

Week 22!

Posted by Unknown at 06:27 0 comments
Week 22! 18 weeks to go and time seems to be going fairly quickly now. I feel like every time I turn around it's a new week and I am that much closer to my due date.
My little man sure does like to move. I started feeling him move in the evenings after dinner but now his movements are becoming much more consistent.

Damian is now roughly 11 inches long from head to foot and weighs roughly 1 full pound. That's about the same as a spaghetti squash. His eyelids, lips, and eyebrows are becoming more and more distinct. He is even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. By now his eyes are fully formed, though the irises (coloured part of the eye) still lacks pigment.
His little body is still covered in tiny, fine hairs (lanugo). These little hairs are all over, in his wrinkly skin. He will have wrinkly skin until he starts packing on some adorable baby fat.
Inside his little belly his pancreas- essential for producing important hormones- is developing steadily.

Well that's it for today! Hope you all had a great weekend, I will see you next week!

Week 21!

Posted by Unknown at 17:48 0 comments
Holy moly! Where on earth is the time going? 19 weeks left and little Damian has a lot more growing to do. Though the amount of development that has happened since the first ultrasound 11 weeks ago is phenomenal. I can't believe how much you can see on an ultrasound.
So today I had my anatomy scan to make sure he is growing well and to take all of his measurements. His little heart is beating 168bpm. He now weighs 14oz, almost a full pound! He measures roughly 11 inches long from his head to his little feet! He will be growing long and putting on ounces quickly from here on out.

I wont be getting another ultrasound for the rest of my pregnancy unless I get a 3D/4D scan which I likely will get, but that wont be until I am at least 34-36 weeks. So now I can just sit back and enjoy every minute of my pregnancy.

Baby Damian was very proud of himself today. He was not afraid to show his junk! That's my boy! He wouldn't cooperate though when the poor girl was trying to get a look at his spine. I had to jump around, empty my bladder just too get him to move.. Little bugger! But for the most part he was very calm and relaxed, with his hands by his face. Oh my baby boy, I can't wait to hold you in my arms every single day.

I hope you all enjoyed this wonderful weekend, it finally cooled down a bit and it was lovely! Enjoy the rest of the week and see you next Sunday!

These aren't the best quality but this is my little man <3

And my nearly 21 week belly!

Week 20! Half Way There

Posted by Unknown at 07:33 0 comments
Well here we are! The half way point. It feels so surreal. This amazing little boy is growing strong inside of me and time is starting to move really fast. It seems like I just found out that I was pregnant. I can feel the exact emotions I felt the day I found out. I loved that little Bean so much in just a few moments. I am falling more in love with this little boy every single day I feel I could burst. I can't wait for December but at the same time I want him to stay inside me where I can keep him safe and warm. And because I am a little bit selfish and want to keep him with me all the time.

So little Damian is now about 10 inches long from the top of his head to the bottom of his tiny little feet. He now weighs about 10.5 ounces and is gaining every single day. His movement are becoming stronger and stronger. In just a few weeks I will be able to feel his movements from the outside. Something that his Dad is really looking forward to.

He is now practicing swallowing, preparing his digestive system for his first dirty diaper and first 'meal' of colostrum. He is also producing meconium, the black sticky substance that will make up his first poop.

My uterus is now about level with my belly button. In the first half of my pregnancy I have gained 16 pounds. I thought that was completely great! I imagined I'd have gained much more than that! I should expect to gain about half a pound to a full pound a week now until the end of my pregnancy.

I finally meet my Obstetrician this week which is very exciting. I also expect to have my 20 week ultrasound soon to see how Damian is growing and to make sure that everything is going smoothly. I just can't wait to see him again on the ultrasound screen and get new photos of him.

Well until next time! Hope you all have a beautiful weekend, and are spending it with those you love.

When I was young, I used to admire intelligent people; as I grow older, I admire kind people.

Week 19! IT'S A BOY!

Posted by Unknown at 07:10 0 comments
Wow! 19 weeks already! I am almost halfway there! And if you can't already tell by the title, I found out that I am having a little boy! My baby boy's name is Damian Wayne and is due on December 1st, 2013. He was so good, just sat there with his little legs crossed. I saw his little feet and his side profile briefly. But I get to see him again in a few weeks for his anatomy scan. Need to see how well he is growing!

Damian's sensory development is going crazy! His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, touch, taste and hearing. His hearing is so developed that he can hear my voice and the voices of those closest to me. I constantly sing and talk to him and tell him how much I love him already.

He is still tiny! Only weighs 8.5oz and measures 6 inches from his head to his little bum. He is also starting to work on his very first poop! As he swallows amniotic fluid he will start digesting it and meconium is starting to form. Which is what makes up the black tar like poop, the first dirty diaper in a long, long line of dirty diapers!

He is busy doing somersaults, kicking and stretching. Even playing and grabbing the umbilical cord! Silly boy.

Well I hope you all have had a great weekend! This has been an amazing weekend for me. Stay cool and hydrated in the heat!
Come back next week for Week 20! Almost halfway there!

Week 18!

Posted by Unknown at 08:45 0 comments
Week 18... My goodness. In two weeks I'll already be halfway through my pregnancy! Craziness I tell you. I am really quite enjoying my pregnancy, and am getting more and more excited as my belly grows. AND, I have begun to feel very light fish like movements which is so exciting. I don't feel them often just when I'm very still and quiet.

From head to little bum Bean measures about 6 inches and weighs about 7 ounces. Bean is busy flexing their little muscles, and stretching it's arms and legs which will get stronger and stronger as the days go by. Movements that I will feel more and more.
Bean's blood vessels are still visible through it's skin and their ears are in their final position but stick out a bit from it's little head.

A protective covering called myelin is beginning to form around the baby's nerves, a process that will continue for at least a year after the baby is born. If my baby is a girl then her fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If my baby is a boy his little bits are very noticeable now, his testicles are still up inside his body and wont descend until shortly before or shortly after birth.  Some baby boys need medical help to lower them.

But I will find out if my baby is a boy or a girl next Saturday the 6th of July and I am ecstatic! Once I know what my baby is I don't really mind waiting anymore lol.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend, and if you are Canadian, HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Week 17!

Posted by Unknown at 11:41 0 comments
These weeks are going by really quickly my goodness! Already 17 weeks. I can't believe that in only 3 weeks I will be at the halfway point in my pregnancy. Wow... My little baby is growing.. And so is my belly! LOL finally have a nice little bump, not just bloating anymore.

So how big is my baby now exactly? Well little Bean is about 5 inches long and weighs between 4 and 5 ounces and is gaining rapidly. Little Bean is going through a major growth spurt!

Little Bean is starting to develop fat which will play an important role in metabolism and the production of body heat. Over the next few weeks Bean will start packing on fat, by the time Bean is born it's little body will be 60-70% fat!

I should start to feel Bean moving more and more in the next few weeks which is so exciting I can't wait. And hopefully if my Doctors want to get it together I can get my ultrasound to see if Bean is a little Prince or Princess!

When I find out the sex I will let you all know! Have a beautiful weekend, make sure you try and see that Super Moon tonight! I want to see it! Enjoy your loved ones and stay cool!

Week 16!

Posted by Unknown at 16:39 0 comments
Well here we are! Week 16, only 24 weeks to go ha ha! I haven't felt much movement yet, I thought I did but I am not completely positive. I know it's only a few weeks away and I'll be feeling my little baby move all the time.

In the next few weeks little Bean is going to go through a major growth spurt! Bean will double his weight and add many inches to their little body. Right now Bean is a whopping 4.5 inches in length, and weighs about 3-4 ounces. About the length of an avocado. Beans little legs are starting to lengthen, and Beans body is catching up with their Einstein size head. Beans head is much more erect and their little neck is getting much stronger. Just like the rest of it's body.

The patterning of Beans scalp is forming, though it's locks wont be recognizable yet. Beans nails are forming now, and it's ears are close to their final position. Soon Bean will be able to hear the sound of my heartbeat and my voice! I make sure to sing and play nice music and talk all the time! I just can't wait to find out if Bean is a boy or a girl, than I can refer to them by their name! I can find out what Bean is either this week or within
the next few weeks!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, spent with family and friends. And lets not forget the Fathers! Have a fabulous week and I will see you next time for Week 17!

Week 15!

Posted by Unknown at 08:56 0 comments
Gosh.. Is it week 15 already? They weren't kidding when they said the time flies by! My little bean has grow a lot since I first found out I was pregnant. It has developed so quickly, and the things it will be able to do this week compared to week 11 are crazy!

If I could hold my baby in one hand and a baseball in the other this week, you'd see that my baby is noticeably larger but much lighter than the baseball. From the crown of it's head to the bottom of it's little bum, Bean's about 9 to 11 cm (3.6 to 4.5 in) long, and weighs close to 50 g (1.75 oz).

Little Bean can suck it's thumb now, I might be able to see that on an ultrasound... If I can get another one soon!

My baby is covered with fine hair called lanugo, which will disappear before (or soon after) it's born. The hair on it's head is beginning to grow and Beans eyebrows are filling in.

Bean's eyes are continuing to move toward the front of it's face and his outer ears are still developing.

At this stage of Bean's development, my baby's blood vessels are visible beneath it's thin, transparent skin and it's bones are quickly hardening. In fact, if an X-ray was taken of it's body now, you would be able to see his bones... Not that I'd want an X-ray lol... An ultrasound is just fine lol.

If I do have an ultrasound, this week or next I might be able to find out if I am carrying my prince or my little princess! That is if little Bean wants to cooperate!

I can't wait until I can finally feel my little Bean wriggling and kicking! I know it wont be as nice when it's foot is in my ribcage or it's head is on my spine LOL. I just want some reassurance it's still in there and everything is okay lol.

And here's little me! LOL I hope my baby will have curly hair like me <3

Have an awesome Sunday everyone! I know I will! Going to spend the evening with my Mum, Kyle, my Stepdad and my sister :) Enjoy your family today!

Wholesome Homemade Baby Food

Posted by Unknown at 09:22 0 comments
When my little one is ready to start eating solid foods, I am determined to make the baby food myself. That way I know just exactly what I am feeding my baby.  I know I have a long way to go but I thought other mums might find this helpful.

The food in jars has a lot of fillers, sodium and sugars. And have you ever tried jarred baby food? It's absolutely disgusting! Not only that, it is much cheaper to make it yourself! One sweet potato costs roughly $1.00 but makes enough baby food for at least 7 meals!

Why wouldn't you want to make your own baby food? It takes about an hour a week to prepare and can be stored in the freezer! You can even make your own rice cereal with organic brown rice.

Here are two links to my favourite Baby Food Recipes!
